Pay the fine? You mean pay the bribe… 1.5m!!!! I cant believe it, you got totally ripped off!! So long as you have blue card and your license they cannot solicit bribes. Just say 'give me ticket' and further to Police being so lazy and only looking for bribes they just let you go. //If// you do pay a bribe then the maximum you should pay is 200k as a non-Viet, although as you are in a rural area the max would probably 100k or less.

I’ve been stopped 3 times in Vietnam in 3 years and never paid. My cops didn’t speak English and I don’t speak VNese so I acted very confused and stalled so they finally just let me go without a fine. It’s a racket for “coffee money” haha. However, if you resist and they persist they could confiscate your bike and ruin your vacation. I hear the locals pay 200k ($9) for speeding.

Effective 1/1/2020, speeding over 20km/h from the speed limit will face a fine of 4-5 million songs ($180-$220) and a license suspension of 2-4 months. Cops are corrupted but they got off cheap on this.

Your lucky the did not do you for NO licence.. International Licence is not recognized in Vietnam. Non-Vietnamese citizens are only permitted to drive in Vietnam if they hold a temporary Vietnamese driver's licence

According to the laws, when a motorbike rider exceeds the limit by 20 km or more, he shall be fined 3-4 million VND and not allowed to ride a motorbike for 1-3 months.

Hi from Wales. I am ABSOLUTELY LOVING these uploads of your Vietnam adventures! The only thing wrong is that they are not long enough haha. I'm going to Vietnam next year and I'm going through Youtube looking for Vietnam videos like crazy. I hope I can avoid the police when I'm there. Maybe I'll just zoom past instead of stopping. That's what I did in Tanzania a couple of years ago. Can't do that anymore over there though – they have loads of road blocks now. It's always a bit scary to get stopped by the local constable haha

sorry for u, they got the pic , after i know some people who were charged more.. the thing is u have an IDL..99 % of tourist don t have….Next time if it s happened, just show a wallet with 300 k max, and tell u only have your bank car beside….I was arrested 7 times all over Vn, i have to give only one time..200 k, make a " fase wallet with bank card, 200 k to make it real …ah u re back home ^^
